Strange nods. He is still very tired and very close to passing the hell out, but he scrapes up enough mental energy to do this much. He casts the spell, murmuring under his breath as he closes his eyes. His magic reaches out to James Fitzjames, wherever he is on the ship. And then his magic reaches out to Francis Crozier.
There's a small tightening sensation around his chest, like Francis is wearing too small a shirt of is getting a tight hug. The tightening sensation soon vanishes, leaving a small, warm little feeling. It feels as if the candle in Francis's head has migrated down to his heart. When Strange opens his eyes, he gives the man a small smile before going into a very dramatic Regency novel swoon, falling back on the bed with a thump.
"A spell to tie together two halves to become a whole," Strange smiles. "Metaphorical, of course, it wouldn't end well if I physically tied your heart to James's. Too much of a mess. But this way, even if you leave, you're guaranteed to see him again."
The experience of the spell makes him grasp at his chest, panicking ever-so-slightly until the warmth envelopes him.
Two halves to become a whole. Him and James, bound together, promised to meet again one day even if they're destined to part once more. Even if he didn't believe in such magic, he could feel it take hold over him as the warmth beats in his chest and spreads to the rest of him.
His heart swells and he grabs the front of Jonathan's shirt, swooping down to plant a firm kiss to his lips. "Thank you."
Oh that kiss is lovely. Strange indulges in it for a moment, enjoying the sensation of being kissed. He's missed this. It's lovely. It's only when Crozier pulls away that Strange gives him a besotted little smile.
"I hope you don't think me selfish. I would like it if you stayed. But this is to make it so both of you find each other if one of you were to leave. Because both of you deserve to be happy."
It's still the oddest thing to Crozier, this being 'deserving' of good things. He isn't about to argue with a man who is only half awake, and nods softly as he pulls a blanket up around the magician's legs and chest.
"Sleep, you old fool," he murmurs fondly. "I'll be here when you wake."
"I'll take your word on that," Strange murmurs. It takes him only a few moments to fall asleep. When he does, he rolls over slightly, mouth open, as he starts to snore in a very dignified manner.
