After the crash, I heard a few things. [He sighs again.] The banquet always ends, but it doesn't make it easier to think that this could be the end.

[He considers the question, seriously.] Not based off what we know so far. If there's a chance testimonies could help...

[He nods.] I'm grateful that there's a chance I might be able to help, even if it's a small one. Because, otherwise, I'm not sure how I'd have to weigh it against other responsibilities.

You could do good elsewhere. If there's a chance they won't hear us out -- you should leave.

[He shakes his head.] I have my work at home, so I can't say that nothing would make me leave. But not when there's a chance they will. Besides, when it comes to the worst that could happen, not all of it is impossible to survive.

[He rubs the bandage around his neck.] I'm not sure I'd quite say it's carrying on the same as usual, except in that 'carrying on' is what's usual.

It is indeed. I don't plan on weighing in on any debate about it -- I loathe politics, and the Barge is no different.

[He laughs, sheepish.] I haven't gotten involved in any of that, either... I don't think it'll help. But I mostly just don't like politics.

No minds are going to be changed anyway. People will stay or leave if that's what they wish. I just know as a former inmate I would've hated to have been abandoned.

[Xie Lian's gaze grows distance for a moment, seeing - something.] I think it's cruel to abandon people to whatever fate may come. I think it's also cruel to demand people stay. So often, such is the way of things.

[He glances over his shoulder, towards the main area of his cabin, and then back to the camera.]

I've Kyoko with me, but if you wanted to spend some time together...I wouldn't turn you away.

It can feel like there's no other path. Sometimes there isn't.

[It's good to hear that Kyoko is with him, after everything she went through.]
